Elf eyebrow kit

Elf Eyebrow kit

This is a product I featured in my lastelf haul, after recently going from black hair to blonde hair (which is my natural colour) I needed to change my eyebrow products to a better match for my natural hair. At the moment I have dark blonde-ish hair that is changing everyday with the sunlight and fading and whatever else, so this eyebrow kit from elf seemed the perfect soloution in the shade 'Ash'. As a general rule I tend to stick to eyebrow pencils to fill in my brows, and I also do not thread/wax them as I just can't bear the pain - plucking will have to do and I even begrudge doing that, in fact I wish no one had eyebrows, but then I guess we would look wierd - which is why I find myself writing this post about my brows, because I have them.

The eyebrow kit is from elf's studio range and costs £3.50 so just topped my usual £2.99 rimmel pencil, so it is still an affordable option and a pleasant change from pencil form. The kit includes 1 wax section, 1 powder section and a handy little double ended brush - which I actually use, it is decent enough and saves space! The picture above was taken after just one use, and the one below is after using it everyday for about a month, and there's not that much difference, so this will last a while - I was worried it would run out super quick!

I first apply the wax to fill in any sparse areas and shape the beginning of my brow, and then attack the ends to match the shape of the brow. The colour is a pretty good match for me, I have very light brown brows, this makes them a teenie bit darker which I like. The powder is almost grey, but I apply this over the wax to help keep it in place, although I don't think this is necessary as the wax doesn't tend to move. I sometimes use the elf clear brow gel set if I know I am going to be out all day and need to make sure my brows don't budge, but as a general comment - this lasts all day! There are similar products on the highstreet from brands such as sleek for around £6, so this is the cheapest one available and it is a great product which I will repurchase when finished as I really like the finished look this gives to my brows.

Have you tried this product? What is your holy grail brow product?
P.s ... am I the only one who doesn't thread/wax brows? haha.

Sunday Summary #9&10

Sunday Summary #9&10

  •  This week I took my little brother to see the olympic torch passing by, it was glorious weather and there were lots of people out to support it! It wasn't too interesting for me, but my little brother was crazy excited and I guess it is a once in a life time opportunity!
  • I picked up some more of my uni grades and passed! I just have 2 more assignments to pick up my results from, so fingers crossed they go okay and that's me done for year 2!
  • I've been doing a LOT of shopping, bits and bobs here and there and even shopping for birthdays which aren't until august. I am going to slap a spending ban on me next week - more to come on that soon!
  • It's been scorching weather all week, friday it was hotter than in athens - I do not like hot weather! In fact I've been hiding away in my house and any shade spots I can find. I enjoy the sunshine but it makes me such a grump when it's boiling hot!
  • Today I woke up rather early greeted by breakfast in bed from my little brother, and then we headed to the beach with my mum & stepdad which was nice! It was super hot,and we went really early to avoid the thousands of people - but it was still super busy! We spent a few hours there and then here I am writing this post, cider chilling in the fridge and getting ready for a mini bbq later on this evening.
Hope you've had a great week!

Essie Mint Candy Apple

Essie Mint Candy Apple

I have officially jumped on another blogger bandwagon shall we say. Essie polishes are widely talked about on blogs and youtube and I've always thought how pretty the shades were, and from a mountain of reviews I have read the quality also looked rather impressing! However, I was never sure where I could get my hands on Essie, and how much they cost.. so when superdrug and boots recently started stockin them I thought it was time to try them out!

I chose the ever famous shade of 'Mint Candy Apple' available from boots and superdrug for £7.99 .. superdrug have them in 3 for 2 at the moment. The picture above was taken after 3 days of wearing, and it is completely chip free - so as far as the forumla goes and staying power I am rather impressed! It is now day 4 and still not chips! It applied easily with the fairly large brush, and took just two coats to acheive the colour above. I may apply 3 coats next time to see if it makes a difference, but 2 coats worked just fine. I was a bit put off by the price tag of £7.99 which I personally think is a bit steep for a nail polish, but I am also really impressed by the quality.

What are your thoughts on Essie? Do you have a favourite shade?

Rimmel London Nail polish.

Rimmel London Nail Polish

As a gift for my birthday last month I received 3 nail polishes from Rimmel London, two lasting finish and one 60 second nail polish - all of which in lovely shades, perfect for summer! I've recently had a major clear out of all my nail polish and only kept the shades I truly liked and that I actually wore, which saw me go from just under 100 to around 25 - so these 3 are welcome additions to my now small collection!

066 cranberry zest. 520 at ease. 053 apricot punch.

I've never actually tried rimmel nail polishes before, which is kind of shocking when you consider I had almost 100, so I was really excited to try these! The 60 second polish has a larger brush than the lasting finish ones, making application quicker but it is less precise as it's quite chunky - the shade reminds me so much of my absolute favourite barry m mushroom polish! Cranberry zest and apricot punch are perfect summer colours, I love coral and I love this shocking pinky/red colour. The formula seems slightly thinner than the 60 seocnd polish but maybe that's just due to the application - but I found these all took two overall coats to give a true colour on the nail, which is about average! Chipwise I found these lasted around 2-3 days chip free, without a topcoat so I was pretty impressed wih that too!

Are there any rimmel shades you would recommend?

MUA LIP BOOM : OMG

MUA LIP BOOM : OMG

As you may have seen in my most recent haul I decided to buy a 'Lip boom' from MUA. Now, this wasn't something I decided lightly as I severely dislike Alexandra Burke - and her face is on this product. Everything about this product screems Alexandra Burke .. the whole 'Boom' thing, the shade names .. this one is called 'OMG' and well, I just don't like the woman. However, I had read several great reviews so thought it was only fair to give the product a fair go and I am glad I did. Alexandra burke aside this is a fab lip product.

There are two ends to this product, one housing a matt lipstick and one a shimmering gloss. The first thing that struck me was the smell, and not in a bad way .. this smells yummy! The lipstick has that 'mac-esque' vanilla kind of smell, and the gloss just smells like a sweet and sickly toffee scent, which I personally love. (not for the sensetive nose types among us, sorry!) As MUA suggest, there are 4 different ways to wear this double ended lip product.

Top L-R - Lipstick alone, lipstick with gloss in centre as a highlight.
Bottom L-R - Lipstick and gloss all over, gloss alone.

At first glance this appears to swatch a bright orange coral, but once applied I would say it was more of a pink-coral which I love! I am impressed with the formula and the pigmentation of both the gloss and the lipstick. So, despite this having Alexandra Burke's face all over it, I am going to say this is a great all around product which gives 4 great, wearable looks in one.. and for £3, well, you just can't go wrong!
P.s MUA is 3for2 in Superdrug at the moment too!

Do you like Alexandra burke? Or am I alone in my dislike for her and her cheesy songs/general language/attitude? .. OK.COM! *cringe*

Carmex Cherry

Essential : Carmex Cherry

Lipbalms are one of my favourite products, and they are probably what I purchase most of and what I use most often. I am always searching for the most moisturising or the loveliest smelling lipbalms to throw in my handbag and in doing so have accumulated around 20! I use lipbalm every morning and everynight without fail, and more often than not throughout the day too, so I thought I'd share one of my favourite lipbalms with you, which is Carmex Cherry.

Carmex cherry is a moisturising lipbalm that soothes, relieves and moisturises lips, as well as containing spf15 making it great for the summer! It smells delicious, as the title suggests..CHERRY! I find this works well for repairing cracked and dry lips, but a slight warning it may sting if your lips are severely chapped or very very dry .. I found this out the hard way. However for everyday use and preventing dry lips I find this works a treat! I like to use this before I apply lipstick to moisturise the lips and prevent any lip products looking flakey or dry, and I usually apply this in the night time too. This is strong scented, so for those who don't like this I would suggest trying the original carmex which is softer scented, but for those who don't mind a scented product this is great. Carmex is widely available, fairly cheap, compact in size and lasts a very long time -  I love it!

What's your favourite lip balm/lip saviour?
